Do you ever wonder where certain words come from?

I do.

Alllllllll the time.

Like the word “cocktail” for example.

What the heck is up with this word?  It contains two words with which we are familiar, and yet the meaning of the whole word as we understand it today has nothing apparent to do with either of those two root words.

Wikipedia says this:

A definition of cocktail appeared in the May 13, 1806, edition of The Balance and Columbian Repository, a publication in Hudson, New York, in which an answer was provided to the question, “What is a cocktail?”. It replied:

Cock-tail is a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters—it is vulgarly called bittered sling, and is supposed to be an excellent electioneering potion, inasmuch as it renders the heart stout and bold, at the same time that it fuddles the head. It is said, also to be of great use to a democratic candidate: because a person, having swallowed a glass of it, is ready to swallow any thing else.

Ha! I bet.  😉

Anyway, that was my random thought for the day.

What I really meant to write about was the specific cocktail I am currently enjoying.

Well… Enjoying may be too strong a word.

I am pounding cranberry juice today in order to hopefully rid my body of this UTI.

I called Dr. K’s office this morning and asked their opinion, but they only offered to send me to the lab for a urinalysis.  I told them to hold onto the order, and that I was going to try to get rid of it naturally.

If that doesn’t work, well then I will just get the stupid pee-cup test and the stupid antibiotics that will no doubt come with it.  I just reeeeeeally don’t want to take an AB during ovulation.  If I have to feel well enough to want to have some Sexy Time, then I need to NOT have those devil pills in my system.

And so, cranberry juice it is!

Anyone else out there have any home remedies for a UTI?

I’m all ears!

Water and cranberry juice is all I got too, there’s cranberry pills as well, they might help in preventing them in the future if it’s a common problem.

Thankfully it’s not a recurring issue – it just seems that Femara brings out the best in my urinary tract, lol.

Try the AZO cranberry tabs, then you don’t have to pound the cranberry juice…just sip it 🙂
