Soundtrack Saturday :: The Middle

Sometimes you just hear the right song at the right moment, and it really resonates with what you’re going through in life.Ā  It seems like this happens to me on a regular basis… Maybe I’m just highly self-centered, or maybe I’m just hearing what I need to to get by, but either way, I am so thankful for those golden songs that play when I need them most.

This week, Pandora hit me with one such song while I was in the bathtub, shaving my legs and preparing myself mentally for my ultrasound appointment later in the day.Ā  I was thinking about everything that my friend the sonographer could possibly find that would be detrimental to my fertility, and dwelling on all of the negatives–especially just how long this journey to have a baby has taken already, and how far I may still have to go.

Then this song came on, and I felt so much better.

Who says Emo can’t inspire hope?

The Middle :: Jimmy Eat World

Hey, don’t write yourself off yet
It’s only in your head you feel left out or looked down on
Just try your best, try everything you can
And don’t you worry what they tell themselves when you’re away

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

Hey, you know they’re all the same
You know you’re doing better on your own, so don’t buy in
Live right now, yeah, just be yourself
It doesn’t matter if it’s good enough for someone else

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

Hey, don’t write yourself off yet
It’s only in your head you feel left out or looked down on
Just do your best, do everything you can
And don’t you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright

I love this song, and yes it has hit me in a similar way in regards to this ride before.

I don’t think you’re self centered, it’s the great thing about music is that it can speak to us when we need it. This happens to me often too.

Btw, I nominated you for a versatile blogger award.

Wow, thanks! That’s the coolest thing that’s happened to me all day! Which is saying something, because I ate a whole bag of Baked Lays for dinner as a part of my menstrual-self-pity-diet. šŸ˜‰
